April 8

Nerds that we are, Ralph and I have been graphing the number of Maine cases of that stupid flu.  It really is starting to look like we are bending the curve, so good work everyone!  Let’s hope one of these treatments they’re working on turns out to be amazing and we can all go back to normal soon, knowing there are some drugs or plasma or something that will be available if you get it.  Then we can start working on the herd immunity part, oh boy.

The farm is plugging along.  We are trying to decide whether or not to plant a few things this week.  It’s dry enough, but the soil is still only 40 degrees, and not likely to warm up a heck of a lot given the forecast daytime and nighttime temperatures.  Many things will not germinate at until 50 or 60 degrees, but they will rot at low temperatures, so planting too early doesn’t necessarily gain you too much.  But, we may roll the dice and do it anyway, because farming does seem to bring out the gambler in a person, and there are a couple of things that will germinate that low, albeit very slowly.

Today we are open just for our current Winter CSA members
