We have two summer share sizes, the 3/4 share for $450, and the larger full share for $550 which is more suitable for families. Shares are picked up every week for 22 weeks from the first of June through the last week of October. This is an important point to consider when comparing CSA plans. Ours is the longest summer CSA plan in our area which makes the per week cost of the share lower than many CSAs who have a lower share price, but deliver for fewer weeks. And since we size the share by wholesale and not astronomical farmers' market prices this is the best value CSA share around. Do the math to compare.
In Laughing Stock Farm's summer CSA you can count on getting the full value for your dollar every summer regardless of the weather. Because we have a large wholesale business in addition to the CSA, we were able to cut back on wholesale sales during the disasterous 2009 season to make sure the CSA was always provided for.
You can pick your own flowers and herbs at the farm during share pickup. Everything else is picked for you, so it’s less work for you. The farm is open on Saturdays for Portland members to take advantage of the pick your own offerings if they wish to come and visit the farm.

Pick up is at the farm on every Thursday afternoon between 2 and 7 PM, rain or shine. We don’t deliver, but we will help you organize pickup groups so you can share the trips to the farm with people you live near. You get to visit “your farm” a few times and avoid delivery fees. If you can't make it to pick up, we will make up a bag for you as long as you let us know by 8am on Friday. Please call 865-3743 and leave a message on the answering machine. We listen to messages several time a day. This option will only be available at the farm, so Portland members will be able to come to the farm to get their share if necessary.
Keep in mind that, early in the season the share is smaller because many crops are simply not ready by early June. As early in the season as possible, you will have choices like “choose 4 of these 7 vegetables.” This makes our CSA more like a prepaid farm stand where you can select more of what you want from the choices available at any time.
Get priority in signing up for our popular Winter CSA Shares. Our summer members get first choice because our growing space is so limited in the winter. As our winter share continues to grow, we are planning new greenhouses to keep up with the demand, but because we are a business, each season will determine how quickly we can expand.
To secure your place in our summer CSA, follow these links to the Summer Brochure and/or Order Form. Print one, fill it out and return it to the address on the form with your non-refundable 50% deposit. When our membership limit is reached, we will return deposits and maintain a waiting list on a first-come-first-served basis in case anyone drops out. Your summer membership balance is due by May 31st every year.
